When I was a kid in Manhattan, my sister and I found an injured teenage pigeon and snuck him/her (how can you tell which is which?) home with us and sercetly created a pigeon world in the guest bathroom... it took my mother a couple days to find out. When she did, all hell broke loose but we persuaded her to give the pigeon another day, and luckily that night s/he flew away healed (The pigeon, not my mother). But what do I know? Maybe the pigeon was fine all along.
